200S Industrial Shoe Brakes |
Mondel 200S range of industrial shoe brakes are suitable for a variety of industrial and mining applications and environments including
cranes, conveyors, moving bridges, fans, winches, turn-tables, overhead doors, lock gates, strip processing equipment, shiploaders, ore bridges,
deck machinery, machine tools and many other types of machinery which require reliable stopping and holding.
The 200S range is very flexible and consists of a basic movement which can be fitted with a variety of DC, AC, hydraulic, pneumatic and
mechanical operators. The many optional features make the basic brakes suitable for a large number of different applications.
The main components of the movement are manufactured from cast steel, fabrications and close grained cast iron. The brake arms, shoes and
several other components are standardized, jig drilled, and interchangeable between different brake types of the same diameter.
Optional Features
Our 200S-ST type brakes are now available with Auto-Equalization and Auto-Adjustment for improved brake performance, less maintenance and more
balanced braking.

Automatic Adjustment (AA) - Automatically compensates for lining wear throughout the full thickness
life of the linings. It eliminates the time required to manually adjust the linkages for brake shoe lining
wear.
Automatic Equalization (AE) - Automatically equalizes and maintains running shoe clearance and
maintains proper running, which provides balanced braking and equal brake pad wear.

The AIST rated mill duty brakes are designed for heavy-duty steel mill and other harsh environments and applications which require high
integrity products.
The advanced design features, combined with fabricated steel construction, makes this range of brakes suitable for applications requiring
reliable braking with the minimum of maintenance and downtime. Applications include steel mills, stacker reclaimers, shiploaders, port cranes,

Motor Mounted Brakes |
Magnetek's motor mounted brakes offer an easy alternative for brake integration.
Many of Magnetek's industry-leading brakes are available as motor mounted brakes, offering an easy alternative for brake integration. Motor
mounted brakes feature the brake already mounted on the opposite drive end (ODE) of the motor, which saves time and eliminates brake mounting
labor.
Crane builders often buy shoe brakes, brake wheels and motors as separate items, then integrate them into their designs by building separate
mounting bases for the motor and the brake. The motor and brake then need to be carefully aligned (usually with shims) to work properly.
Obtaining the motor with a brake package factory mounted simplifies crane design and saves shop time. With the brake mounted, the motor simply
needs to be bolted in place and its shaft coupled to the gearbox input shaft. To use this approach, motors with a C-Face and tapered shaft on
the ODE are supplied. This allows the brake support to be bolted to the motor's machined flange, ensuring precise location of the brake.
Normally, brakes mounted to the motor will be in the 4- to 13-inch wheel diameter size range.

Vertical Brakes |
Magnetek offers a vertical design of its AIST 300M Mill Duty Shoe Brake. The vertical MBT brake is a great fit when space is restricted by
related machinery, structural components, or worker access requirements where a standard horizontal brake does not fit. The thruster is mounted
above the brakewheel rather than on one side. The vertically mounted brake meets the same requirements as our horizontal MBT brakes and delivers
the same rated torque with minimal maintenance and downtime.
Like all of our mill duty shoe brakes, the vertical MBT brake features fabricated steel construction and is designed for use in heavy-duty
environments. Applications for mill duty shoe brakes include steel mills, stacker reclaimers, shiploaders, port cranes, shipyard cranes,
offshore drilling rigs, missile assembly cranes, incinerator cranes, and large gantry cranes.

Hy-Thrust Actuators |
These actuators are electro-hydraulic devices which combine all the basic elements of a hydraulic system into one integral unit, consisting
of an electric motor driving a hydraulic pump, piping, working cylinder and piston.
The function of the actuator is to convert electrical energy into a mechanical force hydraulically, producing a smooth straight line thrust,
throughout the piston stroke. They are mainly used to release spring-set brakes like the MBT, MST and SDT.
Three types of actuators are available:
AC three phase (Ed type)
AC three phase explosion-proof (EdF type)
DC (Eg type)
Magnetek offers the Ed type of 60 Hz actuator in 208VAC, 230/460VAC and 575VAC three phase versions. Other voltages from 110VAC to 690VAC,
50 Hz versions, explosion proof and DC (220VDC) actuators are available with longer lead times.

Braketronic® Controller |
Applications:
The Mondel Braketronic Controller provides variable torque control of Mondel Thruster- operated shoe or disc
brakes.
Braketronic Controllers can be applied to single or multiple brake systems and can be supplied from DC,
single-phase or three-phase power supplies at any voltage or frequency.
The typical Braketronic Controller can operate in conjunction with a foot pedal or master switch to deliver
proportional control of the brakes.
In less demanding applications the Braketronic can be programmed to apply the brakes at a predetermined
rate by means of "ramp down" using a single step device in a radio transmitter or pendant.
Command can be arranged for radio remote control only or selected to operate from either cab or radio through
the command transfer switch.
Mondel Braketronic Controllers and brake systems are replacing high maintenance power assisted air over
hydraulic systems.
Mondel has applied Braketronic Systems on a wide variety of indoor and outdoor cranes. These can be found
in steel mills, foundries, aluminum smelters, copper refineries, power generation plants (including nuclear),
shipyards, assembly shops and warehouses through North America. Other applications include moveable lift
bridges, conveyors, fans, lockgates and many other types of rotating machinery.
System Features:
Provides state-of-the-art sophisticated braking for crane travel motions compatible with modern drive
technology.
Operates from DC, single phase, or three phase power.
Can be proportionally controlled direct from the crane cab or via remote control.
Can be gradually applied by means of pre-programmed ramping using single step control devices.
Permits the use of control devices which are compatible with modern ergonomic sit-down cab arrangements
including rotating consoles.
Replaces straight hydraulic or power-assisted braking systems, and provides parking and loss of power
emergency fail-safe braking.
Can be ramped or proportionally controlled from a selected command source and transferred to a ramped or
proportionally controlled alternate command source, or vice versa.
Provides the ability to interlock with the drive to prevent simultaneous braking while the drive is operating.
Can be pre-programmed to suit your requirements or field tailored to accommodate revisions.
